Which Write-N-Cite is Right for Me?

RefWorks offers several versions of Write-N-Cite depending on your software and computer type.  How do you know which one you should download?  Read on…

ProQuest for Word version 4.3 – this is the latest version that combines both Write-N-Cite AND Flow for Word (ProQuest Flow a document management product as opposed to RefWorks which focuses on citation management).  If you use both RefWorks and Flow, this is the version you need – it will allow you to log in to either product and access your references.  One very important thing to note:   ProQuest for Word can’t format a paper using references that you have stored in both RefWorks and Flow.   You need to only use the references from one account at a time.   So no combining references in your paper, please.

Even if you are only a RefWorks user, you can still use ProQuest for Word.

ProQuest for Word is available for both Mac and Windows (32-bit and 64-bit). PQFW supports OS 10.7 (Lion) 10.8 (Mountain Lion), 10.9 (Mavericks), and Word 2011.  The Windows versions support Windows 7 & Windows 8, and Word 2007 & 2010.

Write-N-Cite version 4.2 and below – this version only works with your RefWorks account and has the same functionality of ProQuest for Word.   Available for Mac and Windows (32-bit and 64-bit).

Write-N-Cite version III – this version is styled in our classic interface and is available for Windows users only.  Supports Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 and Word 2003, Word 2007, and Word 2010.  It does not have instant bibliography formatting like WNC 4 and PQ for Word 4.3 do.  Does have an offline capability.

Write-N-Cite version 2.5 – this version (for Mac users only) is similar to the WNC III for Windows.  For OS X 10.3 (Panther), 10.4 (Tiger), 10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard). Supports Word 2004 and Word 2008.

Write-N-Cite  for Hangul version 3.0 – this version (for our Korean users) is similar to WNC III for Windows.  For Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.  Supports HWP 2007 and HWP 2010
