What is the fee for participation?
Institutions wanting to provide continued access to RefWorks for their alumni can purchase the Alumni Program as an “add-on” module. The annual license fee for the Alumni Program is based on the size of your institution.

Is there a limit on the number of Alumni who can participate?
Yes. An annual license fee, with a maximum number of Alumni users applies. If an institution exceeds the maximum number of Alumni user allotment, additional blocks of users can be purchased.

Do my users have to be a member of the Alumni Association to participate?
We believe so. Since the institution is sponsoring Alumni access, the users should be affiliated. Further, given the economics of Alumni versus an individual subscription, access to RefWorks will be a powerful incentive for graduates to register with the institution’s Alumni Association. We will, however, defer to the institution and accept whatever definition is used for Alumni who are entitled to institutional services.

How do my users gain access to their database under the Alumni Program?
Simple! Your Alumni users will continue to access their database through your institution’s established log-in page. RefWorks will enable these users to convert their accounts to “Alumni” status within the program.

How do I subscribe to the program?
Contact your RefWorks Account Manager or email alumni@refworks.com directly. For new subscribers to the program, RefWorks will pro-rate your subscription to correspond with the date of your RefWorks renewal.

What if my institution does not participate—can my users still keep their database after they graduate or leave the university?
Yes. Any RefWorks user with an existing account can purchase an individual license to the service at a preferred rate of $50.00 per year. This special rate represents a 50% discount off our retail license for an individual subscription.
